I recently unlocked the N7 Slayer when I already had a level 18 in the class, and really, really liked him.
However, I don't' think I've died so much with a higher level character ever. He might even be more delicate than my volus engineer. Even with health/shields maxed out and some kind of shield gear bonus, I died an embarrassing amount of times just in bronze. But it has given me more patience for other Slayers I've been in rounds with. Now, when they die a lot, I don't get frustrated just hurry over to get the rez bonus and feel sorry for them at the same time. lol
I noticed this too, and it's especially egregious compared to the krogan Vanguard, who could get hit by a train and barely chip the paint. Since the tweak to the palm blast, I re-specced him for that (with the less barrier usage evo) and actually found it quite effective both as a pre-charge hit and a post-charge finisher. He's still made of damp tissue paper, but I found him a lot more fun to play that just spamming slash all the time.
I'll have to do that with the palm thingy next time I play him. I had a lot of points in biotic slash because it was so powerful, but now that I got the badge for that, I can pour the extra into something else.
I've now got all of the Silver part of the map challenge done (Firebase London, never ever again!)
I need to do the Gold stage by now, which is somewhat daunting as I've only played the one Gold match! (We didn't extract, though we did get to Wave 9 before the wheels came off completely.) So, which maps would people say are relatively forgiving for new Gold-level players? Or does it actually make any difference?
I say this with limited Gold experience, but White still seems to be quite good. Hang out at the bottom end of the map, and the mobs funnel toward you and bunch up nicely in corridors for grenades and explosions. You have walls to use to cut down attack angles, and the back is still open if you need to retreat.
I personally seem to do better in tighter spaces. The open ones allow then to take your head off from a mile away. Of course, YMMV with your class. Range obviously favors a sniper. (It favors their snipers too, though)
I like that part of Firebase White; that's where I've had most of my successful solo's.
I hadn't considered the possibilities of tighter spaces, although I suppose not being able to have anything flank you or get behind you has definite advantages.
Unable to have people join your lobby? Can’t figure out how to do voice chat on Xbox? Here’s the thread to ask your questions.

Has anyone ever had the bug where their character suddenly runs reeeeeally slowly? The running animation is the same, but the character moves at a crawl, like they're running underwater. I've had this happen to me several times recently and I have no idea what causes it. I'm pretty sure it's not lag related because everything else is perfectly normal, I can shoot, use powers, roll/hop normally, and all my teammates move at normal speeds. Sometimes it fixes itself eventually (or I unknowingly do something that fixes it?) but sometimes I have to commit suicide.
I've had that bug a few times on different maps and with different characters. No idea why/how it happens, but IMO the quickest way to get back to normal is dying.
Yea, I feel like there is a way to fix it without dying but I can't figure it out. It's just annoying/hilarious when it happens and there's nothing around to kill you. Last time it happened I was in Firebase Rio with all the mobs on the other side of the map, I had to roll myself all the way to the center to die.

Don’t know an Indra from a Krysae? Whether the Carnifex or the Predator would be better with your Engineer? Here’s the thread to hit up.

Known problems:
- Modem/port setting recommendations
- 'Missile glitch' (which can get a user banned)
- Firebase Rio may cause crashing (seems to be linked to characters doing heavy melee)
- Opponent 'stacking' (landing one atop the other), especially on Firebase Reactor, can cause opponents to become partially immune to damage. Recommendation is to use melee or untargeted AOE to 'unstick' them ( h/t skellington1 and sinvraal)
- The escort drone gets stuck in the environment. One recommendation is to have one of the escorting PCs die, and it may unstick. ( h/t skellington1 and insects)
- Classes may be granted too many build points under certain circumstances (h/t lm_jillybean- Volus characters may get stuck in the circular support pillar ( ... )
