Actually, the geth trooper is a lot of fun in my experience. Here's how mine is specced:
Flamer: 6 (reach/damage/armor damage) Fortification: 6 (durability/power synergy/durability) Hunter Mode: 3 -- I almost never use this because of the shield debuff. Networked AI: 5 (damage & capacity/power damage) Advanced Hardware: 6 (durability/shield recharge/fitness expert)
The result is a flame-throwing badass that can take a banshee or praetorian down in two flamer bursts (at least on silver anyway) and anything else in one.
Oh he's definitely fun, but trying him out for the first time at that level was a terrible idea on my part. ;) When I'm not dying he's great to use. :P
I wonder if I've put too much into Hunter Mode. I really liked it as a Gethgineer, not so much as the Trooper.
I think the three points I have in hunter mode might be too much, even. I never use it, because look at the geth's shields/health ratio ... something like 400 health, 1200 shields. When the shields drop, you're one stray shot away from being a bug on a windshield.

And hunter mode cuts those shields about in half.
