A couple of stills supposedly from a leaked then withdrawn video on the Omega DLC give us a first look at a female turian in-game. As always, this should be taken with a grain of salt, but to me it looks pretty legit game footage.

I'm still very disappointed with the idea of no-crests for females - it just doesn't seem to make much sense in terms of the species' evolution. (And personally, I think it looks weird.) This isn't that bad, I guess, but it looks too human-feminine for my tastes; look at those shapely cheekbones. Also, eyeliner? Really?

Granted, I haven't delved deeply into the turian backstory, but I thought I'd heard they were modeled after birds, and in many bird species, the females are drabber and less frilly than their male counterparts (off the top of my head, see: peacocks, robins, cardinals, turkeys, chickens). With chickens especially, the differences between rooster and hens' crests are significant.

So, to me, it makes total sense that female turians would have no-crests.

I can understand that concept, sure. However, since we've been told that the turians have a "metallic carapace" that helps protect them from the radiation of Palaven. So it seems weird that half the species would be lacking protection on their heads, a fairly crucial part of one's anatomy. (I realize crest-less females probably still have some protection, but not as much as a full crest would provide.) That's just my take on it!

Her scalp looks a bit like a Batarians. Just slightly less ugly.

Makes me think of Transformers, and I can't quite put a finger on why.

The new Transformers Prime designs are very triangular and long like that. Especially Arcee, so I can see where the impulse comes from.

I think she's cute...but yes, doesn't make much sense to not have the crest, with top of the head being the part most exposed to their sun's radiation and all. Still, cute. Can't wait to hear her voice :)
