Well I am crying into my laptop right now, so I don't know if I would say enjoyed is the right word, but I am definitely moved. You write with such wonderful descriptions that it paints the picture for me with your words. I love the weaving of Searider Falcon into this part, especially the last line. There are so many lines that really touched me through the whole story, not to mention some thoughts on characters that I had not really considered before, especially the Lee and Tory chapters. I loved the Lee chapter so much. Great work on your first multiple! I look forward to more in the future. No pressure.

I'll take moved! Thank you for all the kind words. I loved the Lee chapter too. It may not have worked for everybody, but I really needed more of an explanation for what went wrong between Lee and Laura.

Thank you.

Laura was so adamantly against the idea of taking doloxan when we first met her in the series yet when the cancer returned that wasn't really addressed. While certainly the difference could have been and probably did have a lot to do with how advanced the cancer was the first time and how unwilling she was to again entrust someone else with the fate of humanity after the train wreck that was Baltar ... I prefer to think a lot of it did have to do with the affection she had for Bill - even if she wasn't ready yet at that time to admit it.

Also this may not have been entirely clear - and if so someone please do let me know so I can rectify it - but while Bill's acceptance is the end of this story it wasn't really meant as the end of Bill and Laura. I wasn't really trying to divert from canon. This story was sort of meant as something that can slip between episodes without really altering canon so the rest of the series still plays out as we saw on screen.

This was an extremely well written storyline. Some parts were so sad, some very funny, some lines even hilarious but the whole story was always very touching and emotional, believable and all of the characters were written very much in character.

I'm betting you did read chapter 13.

The chapter numbering is a little different between what's up at the Survival Instinct archives and what's on my live journal page.

Two of the chapters that are on my live journal page were so short that I just tacked them onto the end of other chapters when I posted them at the archives - which would make this chapter (Chapter 15 on livejournal) chapter 13 on the archives (as soon as I get a chance to post it there).

But just in case ...

Chapter 12 Laura with Bill in sickbay http://mascaret.livejournal.com/12116.html

Chapter 13 Laura/Cottle
http://mascaret.livejournal.com/12297.html

chapter 14 Bill returns to sickbay
http://mascaret.livejournal.com/12987.html

And of course you already found chapter 15.

Sorry for the confusion. I really need to get this chapter up on the archives but I haven't had a chance yet.

This was wonderful and terrible. To do such an in-depth exploration of Laura's death, through the different characters -- and to bring Bill to acceptance... It was wrenching.

Thank you! I'm glad you stuck with it and were able to enjoy appreciate it despite the subject material.
