Timbre-lake Challenge

Aug 08, 2006 16:38

You know, I don't know for sure how much interest this is going to get, particularly with the number of other challenges going on, but I'm going to go ahead and do it:

The Timbre-lake ChallengeIn honor of the fact that up to three-quarters of the titles on the supposed track listing for "FutureSex/LoveSounds" are actually titles from the Sophie B ( Read more... )

Oh, good spot on the track listing! Sign me up for Lose Your Way. And I think the release date for FS/LS is actually September 12.

Oh, fabulous! Have got you down for that one. (And, oh, need to fix that release date, too. Thanks!)

I'm not sure I would have spotted it if not for "Your Tongue Like The Sun In My Mouth." Well, maybe from "The Darkest Childe." But the rest are generic enough that I probably wouldn't have twigged.

Completely not relating to the popslash and only to the Sophie:

Is this the double-live album that's supposed to come out? There's a track listing on her official site which seems to be on the up-and-up. Or is this a new album?(!)

Also, what'd you think of Wilderness?

The September release is Timberlake's new album, FutureSex/LoveSounds - his people recently released a (supposed) track listing for it, but once I got a look at it, I twigged to "Your Tongue Like The Sun In My Mouth," ran off to compare the FS/LS listing to Timbre, and discovered that eight, possibly nine of the song titles matched. I suspect J's playing a game with the public, covering up what's actually on his new album until it's released - I'm amused at the choice, though. Even if the overall conceit was word play on Timbre/Timberlake (and maybe even Timbaland), he had to have some idea of what reaction would be to some of those song title choices, particularly tracks like YTLTSIMM.

Then again, maybe I (and possibly he) give the public too much credit - I've not seen a lot of recognition of the fact that he's used most of Timbre's track list, even though the fake FS/LS listing has been pretty widely released.

Thanks for the FYI -- I feel embarrassed, all I had to do was scroll down and read a few more of your LJ entries (or perhaps read this entry a little more closely. I blame lack of sleep. :))

Also, like others have commented, I kinda wish he were covering some of Sophie's songs. *g*

I am a bad fan - I've been so consumed by pop music the past couple of years that I haven't gotten my hands on Wilderness yet. How is it?

I would say, unfortunately, that I think it's her weakest, both lyrically and musically, but there is some nice Adult-Contemporary-type pop music in there. Her voice seems strained -- she sang in a higher register for a lot of it, sort of like Tongues & Tails, but she couldn't quite make it work on this album. Much lighter thematically, like Whaler (though lighter than Whaler, even, and they don't sound alike at all). It feels really summery and "I just fell in love"-y. "Open Your Eyes" and "Walking On Thin Ice" are pretty, though, and "Sweetsexywoman" has a nice jazzy feel. YMMV. /GIGANTIC PARAGRAPH

Normally I'm not really one to write fiction, but this peeked my interest immediately. I'd love to claim track 11 Help Me Breathe

Done! Thanks for participating. :g:

And you know, I hadn't thought about opening it up to fan art, but I wonder if there would be people who would be interested in doing some kind of art or vidding for some of them, instead of writing ... Hmm.

Ugh if I could do fanart that would rock my world immensely. Haha.
