Open House and the missing FAQ

Sep 14, 2007 12:45

So last night was the Reflections Open House ... part of Pagan Pride Week here in DC. So okay, it was just us all night ... not bad, we all had fun ... but give me a break! I wonder how many folks actually attend the weeknight events anyway.

So we got to hang out, laugh, munch goodies and talk.

So first, here is the incredible chalk drawing )

My reason for joining would fall under #2. bittercat September 14 2007, 19:44:47 UTC
As for committment, for me this year is a special case, but I honestly don't see what's so hard about the amount of work we are assigned each year. Until this year, I don't think I really had trouble with it. *shrug*

As for the question from the application, I'm as perplexed as you are: I knew what you meant.

I have not gotten any feedback, myself, from the larger community regarding Reflections and why people may not be joining.

I'm glad you all had a nice time. I wish I could have been there.

*hugs*

The questions that stopped me from applying ... and maybe I should have asked ...

* How much of being Your Student can be done without being physically in Your Presence?

* Approximately how much time (per week, month, year, whatever) do you expect students to put in on "the homework" ? on "spiritual practices that might result from 'the homework' " ?

* (and this, well, I haven't looked since the first year of Reflections) -- What are the guiding principles of Reflections? What will we be learning? What is this Tradition derived from / dependent on? While I am Your Student, who do You see as My Spiritual Authority?

Are these questions helpful? or do they just show that I haven't read the material since the first year (wry self-deprecating grin)?

I will answer the first one tonight and the rest in the am ... getting kind of late here ...

Reflections is not a correspondence course, not is it offered online so proximity is important. The Level 0 path was originally created to fit the needs of out of town students. It requires only two rituals a year. And in some cases, I am willing to travel for a weekend course that would satisfy some of the requirements even for degree students. But a person must be willing to travel to DC to satisfy the remainder of the requirements.

I just cannot see how it will work if the person never gets to swim in my energy face to face. And besides, how would you benefit from the community within the school if you never spend any time with them?

more on Sat ... must sleep now ....zzzzzz
