Rant against Vic Mignogna's "Sunday Worship" at anime cons

May 14, 2009 03:08

My only problem with this event is this: who was running it? Vic? Was there an actual priest/minister/pastor/whatever you want to call a certified religious leader present at all? If not, then this is made of fail. I didn't go, since I loathe Vic Mignogna with a fiery passion and I'm figuring he ran it; not to mention I really don't like attending ( Read more... )

not amused, rant, vic is ick, anime: general

That.... no.... WTF.

Damnit. I met the guy a couple of times back when FMA first got dubbed, and he was pretty cool at the time, but this is just..... no, fuck no, wtf.

I'm severely creeped out by this for some reason. Brrrr.

Actually... I think he IS an ordained minister. Although, not all churches require all services to be lead by a minister. My church often has services lead by one of our members when my parents are on vacation (my parents being my church's ministers). It completely depends on the church's doctrines. Most protestant churches that I know of are fine with non ministers leading services. Not being Catholic, I'm afraid I'm not familiar with what the Catholic church's stance on this is.
I think that it's a neat idea to have a service available on Sunday for those who wish to attend, seeing as how many are at least a state away from their own church. Just to have a chance to come together in fellowship and praise is wonderful, no matter the location.

yes, but there are churches in the area for pretty much any convention. If it's THAT important, find one ahead of time and attend it.

A lot of people don't have cars with them. Between the people that were dropped off, car pooled, took a bus, and flew... a lot of people can't leave until a designated time (usually on Sunday). Plus, some of the lots charge you every time your car re enters.
Besides... some people are more comfortable with attending a simple praise and worship service than going to another church, where they aren't familiar with the doctorines or how the service is run.

Still, that doesn't mean that the convention should provide it. If it's that important, arrangements can be made. If it's not that important, skipping one day won't damn anyone to Hell.

lol Glad I'm not the only one who is 'Sick of Vic'! (my friend I and pondered making up signs that said that to last year's Connecticon, but then we figured it be be nice to still be alive after the con)
I actually had no idea he did that o_O but then again, I don't bother to go to cons on Sunday (Idk about other cons, but ours are only half days Sunday)

I will say that his Real Fans of Genius vids on You Tube are laugh out loud funny, so I forgive a little ^^;;

It's moments like this that make me really go "Ugh, Vic." But I have friends who have told me that Vic is really nice and then I hear horror stories. I have no idea how to feel towards the guy.

This post = a thousand times yes.

Sakura con was hosted on Easter this year and also two years ago, and two years ago when we had Vic he held a service. I was like "no thank you" and went to my church's OWN service thnkx ver much.

That guy is such a weirdo...
