I have the strongest urge to write Firefly fic, and have for the longest time, but couldn't because my sole creative focus is NaNo right now. I'm about 4k away from winning, which should be alright because there's two days left. Come next month, I'll be working on the gift fics-- if you haven't requested one yet and want one, you still have time. ( Read more... )

firefly/serenity, joss whedon, fanfic, things that are amazing

Oh, Firefly. *happy sigh*

Yesss ficficfic it. Also, congrats on NaNo! I failed. :( But it's okay, because of the nature of the story, I'll continue to work on it and maybe (juuuuuust maybe) try to publish it? D:

You can totally count anything else you wrote during November. It's all creative endevours, right? I would definitely read your book if it got published.

I will for certain fic Firefly. I think it's my favorite series ever. That earns it some fic, yes?

Also, your icon = WIN. Just so you know. XD

I actually added up the wordcounts of everything I've written, including NaNo and it only comes out to about 45k. I've been stuck right under 20k for a while now, and all my aside endeavors have been too fragmented to get any real, serious words (it came out just shy of 15k). And while, yeah, I know that'll count and I know I can pull 5000 words in a day, It feels kind of like cheating to me. I know it isn't, but... I have such trouble with finishing anything I start and actually sticking to a single story, and for me, NaNo has always been "one single, original fic, period" so... It's just one of my personal quirks. I use NaNo to kick-start my Original Fic bug and make him get to work and stay at work so I can't, in good faith, just add up all of my other fragments, you know? I'd get the winner's banner, but it wouldn't mean anything to me.

Wow, that was a pointlessly long-winded paragraph. Sorry!

(Thanks! I <3 it. This is my next-favorite one, even though it doesn't fit the post at all, I don't care, it's awesome!)

Oh, man. I just took math out back and shot it, didn't I?

35k, and I could totally pull 10,000 words but eh, I know I won't.

Yay, Firefly! <3 That makes me want to watch Serenity on Netflix later (because it's ALWAYS time to rewatch any and all of that series, yes?).

Congrats on being so close to finishing NaNo! 8D You're so close to winning!

It most certainly always is. I've been working my way through Firefly again-- rewarding myself with episodes when I get my word count goals-- and. Yes. So much awesome there.

Thank you! (And thank you, as well, andromeda, since I forgot to say it up there. ...I hope you're reading this one. Otherwise I just cluttered up Mae's comment for nothing.)

How's your book coming?

That is a BRILLIANT idea to motivate yourself! xD Maybe I'll borrow it to help me get Christmas gifts done...

I'm done! Hit 50k and wrote "they lived happily ever after." at about 3:30 AM this morning. First time I've ever finished a book as well as hit the word goal! xD

I've just booked my December to get the gift fics done. I told myself that November would be NaNo, and December would be when I worked on the Christmas stuff.

Ooh, lucky duck! Congratulations on your solid win already. I have to write today, and if I get my 2k in, it'll be the required 50k, but the story still won't be done. :/ Is that cheating?
