yes to all of this. Although rewatching the clips to get what i needed for here I actually kind of pity him along with loving to mock him and loving him period. When he tells mary he likes her he's just so pathetic it's kind of endearing.

He *is* sad and pathetic in many ways and there's just an edge on him that almost makes him a sympathetic character. But just when you think he's redeemable...bam. Crapweaselness. He's one of those guys that'll charm your pants off (literally) if you're a gal seeking that aura of adoration they are so good at affecting. When, in fact, it's manipulation through and through.

aw.. I think he's a sympathetic character, I just can't quite forgive him for giving Mary someone else who isn't Marshall to attach herself to. I can't really blame him for liking her, she's awesome and gorgeous. Not 100% sure he's the womanizer we make him out to be. though I love to write him in all his slutty-man-whore-glory.. sure a welcome relief after writing Marshall as the ever steady good-guy. :P
