Marshall flicked his gaze to the rearview compulsively, but Mary steadfastly refused to meet his eyes. Instead she stared out the window, absently petting Celia's hair with with her left hand.
Mary could feel him vibrating with the effort required to keep from closing the distance. okay so that whole paragraph reeeeeally.
