Great ending! I've enjoyed this story so much, and the collaboration was truly seamless, uniting two real writing talents. Here's hoping for more in this universe, if you get the chance.
Thanks. Glad you liked it. Thank you for reading and leaving comments throughout. As I've said before, we had a blast writing this, and it helps immensely that we seem to share a brain where this trio is concerned.
Only one thing they care about - getting the best of you. Long as you keep ‘em blinded by that, you can run ‘em aground. Plenty of opportune moments with each turn of the tide.”
And Jack Sparrow polished that lesson into a work of pirate art :-)
I just finished reading the whole thing, and my apologies for not following post by post. RL is crazy as a crazy thing right now, with no end in sight. I really enjoyed this collaboration, and it was beautifully written. Your Teague and Sala have so much depth, and I love your young Jack and your vivid, gritty descriptions of the Cove.
Such a treat to have new fic from both of you! Thank you so much for this one ♥
You are welcome and thank you for reading and your wonderful comments! Sorry to hear RL is wearing you down, but I have it on good authority that there is no crazy you can't get back out of -- oh wait. That was Jack I heard that from, so scratch the 'on good authority'. *g* Seriously, though, hope you can crawl out from under soon -- there's a new film on the horizon that will require your undivided attention. Just saying.
Appreciate you reading, luv and letting us know. We had such good fun. Hope to see some new fic up as soon as your life gets in gear -- and please, no red matter, pointy-eared guys or their tattoo'd headed cousins. Much as I love them (and I really, truly do), I miss my pirate guys.
“What a man can do. Stand up for yourself. Hang onto what’s yours," such an important lesson for Jack--carried forward even though he'd rather not and this “Use yer wit, boy! Bide your time, and you buy yourself a lot less trouble." He took that and made it such a very unique part of his world.
Love the hecky do outta this story--I'm a sucker for little boys and how hard adults have to work to civilize the littlest savages. What a beautiful child and I can see why Jack was soooo determined to stay out of Teague's path regarding the codex. You've provided such a delightful slice of Jack's story, woven so neatly twixt y'all two and then woven forward to Teague's grandbaby. Elisabeth is certainly in Sala's flight, having a grace and power of her own. Excellent and many many thanks--well writ and enjoyed!
Thank you so very much for reading. We are thrilled to have you here. My goodness, what a very kind and lengthy review! We so appreciate your time and effort in telling us the things you enjoyed about the piece. ♥
The universe you see portrayed here is a mix between both of ours. madam_pudifoot generally writes a much softer Teague than the one seen here. Given permission to 'have at Jack', I do believe she took that to heart and damn near killed him before I pulled him to safety. LOL It was very much fun for both of us to explore a little in the other's world.
She and I agree on the fundamentals of the Jack/Teague/Sala relationship, and from your comments, we can tell you picked out the universal truths that lie within it. Teague is a bastard and no kind of father, and yet, given a halfway level head, he tries to do right by the boy. Jack is precocious, but with a heart as deep as the ocean. And Sala is the glue that holds them together, fierce in her love of both and willing to risk all to insure they are fair

Ahem, I'm nothing if not a wordy cuss...but I do try to make my "reviews" specific. There's no valuable feedback otherwise. But it sure cuts down on how OFTEN I can post a review.
>Given permission to 'have at Jack', I do believe she took that to heart and damn near killed him before I pulled him to safety.<
*Grin* She sure DID! From having him be softer I guess it's natural to swing off to the opposite extreme. It's just one of the funny parts of collaborating when the authors find themselves in a role reversal!
>The things you noticed and commented on kept us busy plotting night after night, thank you for letting us know our time was well spent<
Well, I'm glad then that I could. Knowing you came across the way you wanted is a gratifying thing.
>We have no intention of leaving the fandom. You'll continue to see our work posted, either separately or together, as the muse strikes.<
I yam a heppy Kat (except for being a mouse, of course)
>Once again, our gratitude. You're welcome. Thank YOU both for writing a nice "lunch-sized"

I'm so happy you enjoyed this. Thank you for letting us know (and in both our journals!) -- you're too sweet, Kate.
I hope we'll be able to do another collaboration again. We had a wonderful time with this one! Thanks again for following along.
