Chapter 3
Jaejoong woke up in the middle of the night slightly stiff in his body. The smell of cigarettes and sex lingered in the air. He picked up his phone huffing slightly when he noticed he hadn’t gotten any message from anyone he wanted messages from. Deleting one from a guy he’d dated a few weeks ago and then blocking the number, he quietly detangled himself from the female body next to his and slipped out of the bed. He didn’t really fancy staying the night. Looking over her form in the bed, he felt oddly disgusted by her. He shuddered as he picked up his bag and left the flat without leaving a note. She’d get the message.

Bracing himself against the cold, Jaejoong decided to walk home. That would be much better than taking a taxi at this hour and anything else was just out of question for him. Soft lights were lighting up the streets as he walked, and he picked up his phone again quickly dialling a number he was used to dialling without even looking at the clock.

“Yoochun?” Jaejoong always called his friend to keep him company on a walk home. Walking alone could be boring and would leave you alone with your thoughts, and if there was one thing Jaejoong always avoided it was to be alone with his thoughts.

“Jae. Why are you calling now?” Yoochun’s voice was laced with sleep and the general roughness of too much alcohol and too many cigarettes. It wasn’t too odd considering that it was 3am, but it wasn’t unusual for Jaejoong to call at this hour either.

“I’m walking home. Keep me company? Please Chunnie. I’ll make it up for you. I can make you dinner tomorrow - or well today - if you want me to, please.” Yoochun knew it was a lost cause. Despite being an ultimate bitch Jaejoong could definitely be charming when he wanted to be, and even through the phone he knew that the other man would always get what he wanted.

“I had drinks with Yunho tonight. You never told me you slept with him,” Yoochun wasn’t accusing in his tone, but merely amused because this was one of the funniest things he’d heard in a while.

“Huh? Slept with him? I didn’t. He’s married to my friend for Heaven’s sake, I wouldn’t do that to her!” Jaejoong defended right away, “I might be a jerk, but not that much.”

“No, no. I meant years ago. Not now. Gee, I think he’d be able to resist you even if you don’t think so yourself.”

“He’d be able to resist me. He better or I’d personally be the one to kill him. But anyway, yeah I did. I kind of forgot about that. Weird though, he was pretty good,” Jaejoong’s smile grew a bit sly as he spoke, “Very good actually if I remember correctly. Too bad he’s taken now; I’d gladly do him again if he wasn’t.” Jaejoong laughed as he dodged a car crossing the street.

“Oh, shut up. He told me that he’d asked you not to tell. Didn’t know you knew how to keep a secret though. Where have you been anyway?” it was easy for them to fall into their friendly talking. They always talked like this.

“I don’t really know. I slept with my assistant. Too bad I have to fire her tomorrow. Chun, are you booked for my show Friday or did she mess that up too? I mean, she managed to mess up the whole shoot today and then she forgot to book ten of my models for Friday. I had to pull a lot of strings to get the right amount up and I don’t have time to fix every freaking set of clothing I’ve made these past three months. Please tell me you’re booked for me and if not, then willing to ditch whoever did book you from me.” Jaejoong was tired of this. He needed a good assistant and not someone who’d just ruin it all.

“Jae, relax. I’m booked. I’m booked for all your shows for the next year, so don’t worry.” Yoochun was shuffling around in the bed and Jaejoong could hear it.

“Great. Thanks. Wouldn’t know what I’d do without you. Do you know any assistants looking for job with me? A good one this time.” Even if assistants made for good fucks. And this one hadn’t even been a good one. He needed more in someone than just a pretty face. He had a pretty face himself and he worked all day around pretty faces, so he knew what a pretty face was and assistants tended not to have that. It was slightly enthralling.

“Yeah I actually do know someone.” Yoochun said after having thought about it for a moment, shuffling around again while lighting a cigarette as he sat up in the bed. “I don’t know if he’s any good, but he supposedly is. He’s pretty cute, so don’t sleep with him.”

“Why? You want him for yourself?” Jaejoong laughed a little and shrugged at that.

“No, no. He’s just innocent and cute. You’ll break him if you’re just going to toss him away after sleeping with him. And don’t even pretend you won’t, because that’s what you do.” Over and over again he’d toss them away and Yoochun didn’t want people to fall in love with Jaejoong. Not when he just hurt them when he was done with them, only calling when he needed them and only really using them for whatever he needed them.

“Okay, okay. I got the message; I won’t sleep with my new potential assistant.” Jaejoong didn’t really care anyway. He’d find someone else and if it meant that much to Yoochun he could do it just fine. “Can I come and sleep at your place tonight? I’m near your flat.”

“What? She didn’t give you enough tonight?” Yoochun’s voice was oddly cold, and Jaejoong shuddered a bit narrowing his eyes slightly.

“I just wanted to sleep next to you. Nothing more, but if it bothers you then I’ll just go home.”

There was a pause on the other side of the line and then a heavy sigh was heard.

“No, just come here.” Yoochun gave in, closing his eyes. It didn’t really matter anyway, because he knew Jaejoong would end up on his doorstep regardless of the answer he’d given.

No more than two minutes later the designer let himself into the other man’s flat, walking into the bedroom with ease that proved he had spent a lot of time in this flat before.

“Hey there.” Jaejoong snuggled into the bed, his cold fingers nuzzling Yoochun’s neck.

“Hey Jae, I expect you to cook me breakfast.” Yoochun smiled as he spoke, trying to move away from the other’s cold body as shivers ran down his spine.

“Okay, don’t you have work tomorrow? I hear Yunho doesn’t like it when his models are late.” Jaejoong smirked and rolled his eyes.

“He doesn’t. Oh, by the way! He was surprised to learn that you’d had a first one time years ago.” Yoochun still found that amusing though he did take quite the thrill in knowing that he had known Jaejoong longer than anyone else had. No matter how many times he had slept with Yoochun had been the one he’d learned how to do it with, and he took a special kind of pride in this despite the fact Jaejoong’s lifestyle mostly just disgusted him.

“He would be. I should probably catch up with him one of these days. It’s been ages.” Jaejoong settled more comfortably against some of the pillows in the bed, pulling the blanket over him.

“Jae?” Yoochun’s voice was soft and quiet. “Do you ever think you’ll settle down like Yunho?”

“I don’t know. I want to.” Jaejoong admitted this only because it was the dark night and he was talking to his best friend. “I want to fall in love at some point, but right now?” the question was rhetorical. “I like the way I live now. I have fun. I don’t know how I could settle down. I mean if I find a guy and settle with him, how can I live without the soft curves of a woman and the fact I with one touch can make her mine? And if I settle with a woman, then how can I live without ever again being in strong arms that can just melt me?” It wasn’t that Jaejoong didn’t want to fall in love. He just didn’t want love to limit him.

“Yeah.” Yoochun didn’t really agree, but he did see the problem. “I don’t know. Night Jae.”

Jaejoong shifted a bit in the bed and then snuggled into the arms of his friend, slipping his feet between the other’s legs. “I love you.” Jaejoong heard the whispered words and smiled to himself.

“Me too.” Jaejoong murmured the words not realising how much exactly those words hurt his friend. He didn’t know and Yoochun had no plans of telling him. Not now, not ever.

Keeping his unspoken promise, Jaejoong cooked Yoochun breakfast the next morning and they both went to work with lifted spirits.
Jaejoong was sitting in his office in his fashion house when he heard a knock on the door.

“Please come in.” He looked up from the sketches he’d been drawing and put them away quickly not wanting anyone to see his newest creation or at least possible creations. “Ah Mr Kim, please come inside. I’m Kim Jaejoong.” He’d have thought the other man knew as much already.

“Pleasure to meet you, Kim Junsu.” Junsu introduced himself, bowing deeply before sitting down on the chair across from the desk, smiling like the sun itself.

Yoochun had been right. This man was gorgeous in the cute and innocent kind of way. Jaejoong subconsciously licked his lip as he took in the appearance. The man was blonde, his nails painted black and his clothes slightly odd, but Jaejoong liked what he saw and he nodded mostly to himself his head tilted to be able to see the entire outfit.

“Why do you want to be my assistant?” Jaejoong folded his hands, focussing entirely on the man before him. His eyes found the other man’s in a penetrating gaze while shutting out everyone and everything else.

“I need the job, the money. I graduated from the university in Seoul with a marketing and business degree. I wrote my last project about marketing in the fashion industry.” Junsu started explaining, and Jaejoong was looking at his papers.

There was no doubt in his mind that Junsu was over-qualified for the job, but he couldn’t really deal with that. The prospect of getting an assistant who actually knew what he was doing was far more appealing than any thoughts of this man and his qualifications otherwise.

“Why are you taking this job, when you could get any other job?” Jaejoong knew his reputation in the fashion industry and knew who else were there. He knew Yunho was the one everyone liked, though he never spoke about it because he knew he was the better of the two despite the fact people most likely hated him.

“Sir, I want to be in this part of the business and you’re the best. Why not become your assistant?” the smile Junsu gave him made him smile back in return. This man was truly something else and Jaejoong couldn’t help but think he’d hit the jackpot on this.

“Very well. Just a few things you should know. Don’t call me sir, don’t call me Mr Kim, don’t listen to what anyone says you should except for me even if they say I’ve told them to tell you - if I don’t specifically tell you to do something then don’t do it, don’t become overachieving and start doing something on your own at first, you’ll most likely do it wrong and that’ll annoy me, don’t stand in my way, always have a cup of coffee ready for me in the mornings, always be on time and never leave work before I do.” Jaejoong listed, expecting the other man to learn and remember these rules.

“Uhm.” Junsu looked a bit confused and then nodded slowly while he was biting his lip. “Got it sir, I mean Jaejoong.” He quickly corrected himself and Jaejoong smiled pleased. “Do what you say and stand with a cup of coffee each morning, be on time and never leave before you.” He listed up.

“Yes that’s right.” Jaejoong nodded again.

“Well urgh. When do I start?” Junsu seemed a little bit shy at first, but maybe that was just in the beginning. Even if Yoochun had said the man was innocent and cute. It was true.

“You can start now. I’ll need you Friday all day and all night. If you have a previous engagement, cancel it or go, but don’t come back Monday. We have a runway show and I expect your help. I expect you to do your very best and help me, because I’ll be a wreck and I expect you to listen to me, giving you an order and do it the first time I tell you to.” This was the only way he could get his employees to follow whatever it was he said.

“For now you can sit in the front office answering the phone. There’s a list of people who should go directly through to me, otherwise just leave a message. If my mother calls put her through immediately.” Because Mrs Kim would not hesitate to show up and yell at him if he didn’t pick up his phone. “Even if I’m busy. If someone who’s not on the list calls just take a message. If it’s a girl asking for oppa then tell her oppa is busy from now and the next ten years.” Since he didn’t have any younger sisters it was safe to say it would be a girl he wouldn’t want to talk to anyway.  Guys were far easier, they weren’t clingy.

“You’re dismissed.” Without even looking up to see Junsu shuffling out the door Jaejoong opened his drawer and found his sketches again. He tried to picture the stage on Friday before him before adding a few touches on how he wanted the stage to be. It had to be magnificent.

Jaejoong didn’t even notice how much time passed with him sitting in the office, but suddenly he was pulled out of his thoughts by his mobile ringing. Looking at the caller ID Jaejoong frowned. What did Yunho want?

“Hey you,” Jaejoong said into the phone, leaning back in his chair and stretching his legs as he reached into his pocket, finding a cigarette and lighting it.

“Jaejoong, hey,” Yunho sounded slightly distracted, but that was expected at this time of day. They were both at work.

“What can I do for you?” Neither of the two men were patient, though both stubborn, but going straight to the point was preferable when you were busy regardless of how stubborn or patient you would be.

“I have a proposition for you.”  Yunho said, and Jaejoong couldn’t help but smile.

“Yun, I don’t sleep with married men. You know that.” It wasn’t strictly true, but he didn’t sleep with married men when he knew their wives and got invited to dinner with them every once in a while.

“Good for you. Do you really need all those models Friday?” Yunho asked frustrated.

“Yes. You know it’s my runway night. I sent you an invitation. Are you coming? I have to save you a seat up front if you do.” It was no secret that the designers went to other’s shows to check out the competition.

“I know. I’ll be there, but do you really need Mae Haneul?” Yunho insisted as Jaejoong snorted.

“Of course I do. Why else would I book him?” Jaejoong was slightly annoyed by this conversation. He didn’t have time for this.

“I know, but he’s the best for the photoshoot I have in mind. You can have my best runway model in exchange.” Yunho must have been desperate, because everyone knew how he never let said model out of his grasp.

“We are talking about that Changmin boy?” Jaejoong had never met the man, but he knew his reputation. The man was of course beautiful like any other model, but he also knew that he was definitely one of the best there was for the runway. Jaejoong took a tired drag from his cigarette.

“You can have Changmin if I can have Haneul,” Yunho bargained, smirking to himself.

“Send Changmin over today. I need to know if he’ll fit into my clothes. I hear he’s ridiculously tall. I’m not saying yes. Just maybe.” Jaejoong hung up without saying goodbye, expecting the model to be there later today. Right now he couldn’t deal with that. He had fittings to do. Taking one last big drag from the cigarette, he smudged it again the ash tray and got up from his chair.

Jaejoong knew that his clothes would mostly fit his models. He did a few adjustments here and there and huffed in annoyance when most of his models were somewhere else for the day. What was it with people?

“Kim Jaejoong?” Jaejoong turned at the voice and saw a familiar face. He’d seen it in pictures of course and from the front row of various shows, but he’d never seen it in real life this close. His breath was taken away for a second and he had to cough to regain his composure. This man was truly beautiful. More beautiful than he had ever imagined. He was drop-dead gorgeous.

“Shim Changmin.” They shook hands. The other man’s hands soft and beautiful just like his face and his voice.

Turning to Junsu, he smirked. “Let Yunho know that he can have Haneul and that I expect him to buy me a drink.” Jaejoong said quickly before turning back to the beauty, drinking a large gulp of water as his mouth had gone completely dry. This was one hot piece of guy. Hotter than any guy Jaejoong had seen in a long time.

Chapter 2 ~ Chapter 4
--------------------------------------------------------------

A/N: My biggest apologies for the long wait. Real life has gotten in the way for this chapter to be posted. You might have noticed that the chapters are longer and that's because I'm writing some of the chapters together into longer chapters which is why it says 3 out of 14 and not 22 any longer. The story is all written and I'm only editing, so I'd like to assure all that I won't abandon it. I'm very sorry for this long wait and my hope is to be able to post chapter 4 before Thursday, since I'm away on holiday after that.
I thank you all for the patience! <3
