this is a song about a war fought near a gulch

It was time again for another training session at the Xavier Institute. What could the students and some of the junior members of the X-Men learn from this session? They could learn teamwork, they would need it. Some individuals could learn how to come up with strategies. The teams would need a good plan if they wanted to win ( Read more... )

Nightcrawler is all too happy to participate - he arrives early.

"A game is a splendid idea. Though I fear for the opposition - teleportation is a difficult advantage to overcome in this game."

Rachel grins at Kurt. She tosses him a headset. "Should I give the other team a head start?"

"Oh, Ah dunno, sug. Ah'm sure Ah could come up with somethin' tah make yer life harder." Rogue has a small smile on her face as she settles to the ground near the two.

"This is for everybody, right?" Liz asked as she peeked into the Danger Room. "Not just the adults?"

Rogue isn't sure about some of the students are talking about but there are certainly bits of strategy in there. For a moment, she looks like she might say something but gets a distant look on her face for a moment before she nods. Smiling, she walks over to Kurt, ducking her head just a little bit - turning, she looks toward Logan, Hank and Jean. Reaching up to her temple, she idly scratches at her head.

"If they're gonna talk us to death, I'll be at the bar." Logan was mostly kidding. Practice with the kids was always good because one day he might have to take them down.

He caught Rogue's gesture and waited. He had no problem hearing the kids plot. Maybe they hadn't realized it yet.

It didn't take a mindreader to get the hint. Kurt glances to Jean, expectantly, but starts to speak as well.

"We should also decide on our offense and defense, of course. We have the mobility advantage - we can press that."

Each of them gets the standard telepathic knock knock before Jean initiates the link between them.

*Do we know what other adults might be joining us?*

She keeps her eyes on the students, smiling slightly at their busy plotting.

Rylee was late due to having to write lines as a punishment for talking excessively in one of her classes, but as soon as she'd scrawled out all five hundred lines, she'd bolted for the training session.

She arrived, huffing a little to catch her breath. If she was less athletic, she'd probably not be up to this at all. At the moment, though, she just needed a minute and she'd be fine.

"Sorry I'm late," she said. "What did I miss, whose team am I on, and what are we doing?"

"Capture the Flag. We've broken up into students and teachers teams, for now."

The young girl had only one more question for Kurt before she was ready to play.

"Powers or no powers?"

She already had a few ideas on how to use her powers to mess with the opposite team if it was a powers-using game, but she'd have to figure out a way to avoid having the same effect on her own team.

"Powers, Ah believe."

And Rogue also thinks they're ready to get going with it all.
