Dating Jinx

Blink had a hard time picking out nice clothes for her date. Each time she thought she'd decided on an outfit she pictured it vaporizing.

And she felt ridiculous wearing the pasties Venus gave her.

But it couldn't be worse than her date with Iceman.

Blink didn't need to worry about being too casually dressed. Owen had put some effort into his appearance, but he wasn't wearing a suit. A dark blue button down dress shirt with grey pinstripes and grey pants that matched was the most dressed up he was willing to go for a blind date that wasn't at some sort of fancy gala. He'd combed his hair and sprayed it down with hairspray just enough that it looked tidy, and he had a hair elastic ready to tie his hair back.

There was a nice cafe that served a good variety of soups, salads, wraps, and other lighter food entrees with desserts, and after that, he'd planned for a game of indoor glow in the dark mini-putt. Something low-key and fun that they could enjoy even if they didn't enjoy each other's company enough to want a second date.

He pulled up in a grey BMW 2008 coupe. With luck, the date wouldn't be too awkward.

Blink recognized him from the photo and waved. "Owen, right?" She said once the door was open. "I'm Clarice, it's nice to meet you." Please don't have any super villains after you, I like these clothes.

Owen couldn't help but pick up on that thought. He'd turned the telepathy on just to check for her reaction to him. While he was tempted to ask her about it, he did his best to suppress that urge. He didn't really have a great deal of control over his abilities, aside from deciding when to turn them on and off, and how to direct them. At the moment, it was probably more polite to turn the telepathy off.

"Yes, I'm Owen," he said, offering her a little grin. "It's nice to meet you too, Clarice. I hope you're hungry and I hope you like mini-putt."

"Mini-putt? What's that?" Oh wow, great way to start off a date. She sounded like a moron.
