The empty white eyes stared back at Mary Jane; no answers magically appeared in her mind. She sighed, slumping back on her bedspread.
Liz snatched the Spider-Man plushie from her hands, lips quirking in a sarcastic smile. "Why do you talk to this thing, anyway?" She lifted it by one leg, turning it upside down in a pose of impotence. "It's not like it can answer back."
"Well," Mary Jane answered, eyes sparkling, "at least it's never given me bad advice."
That remark was totally worth the scowl and a face full of plushie.
