Syriana/BoL Xover snippet

The sun was burning mercylessly down on the land, making the air shimmer and whirl at the horizon.
A black car drove up the barely visible path, a cloud of dust trailing behind it, till it arrived at the last remains of a small wooden shack, half buried in sand and gravel.
There was already another car waiting. Just as black as the other.
Hani inhaled the smoke of his cigar and threw the stub into the dust, extinguishing the last glimmer with his shoe.
A frown crossed his face. It was just impossible to keep one's shoes clean in Jordan. They practically got dust-covered and dirty the very moment you left the house. He sighed an turned around to greet the man he had arranged to meet here.
Prince Nasir approached him with a smile.
"Hani Pascha, my dear friend!" He kissed Hani on both cheeks and shook his hand.
"I am glad you could arrange to come, your highness. Even though the circumstances of our meeting are rather...uninviting", Hani said with a gesture that meant to include the landscape surrounding them.
It was a very unusual meeting indeed. Due to the unstable situation in the Middle East, any meeting between a member of the Al-Subaai family and the GID would cause a flood of rumours and gossip.
Hani wasn't naive. He knew very well that Ed Hoffmann and his high-tech satellites were just now watching him from hight above. Seeing every of his and Nasir's movements....
But the Americans weren't the problem. The ones they tried to avoid by meeting in the middle of nowhere, were civilian jihadists of a certain cell that just recently started to cause trouble in Jordan. The whole GID was doing overtime to prevent them from actually successing in wracking havock in Amman. The situation was tense enough already. Protests and uprisings all across the Middle East. Civil war right next door in Syria.
