The most recent thing I've heard and really liked was Prokoffiev's "War and Peace" (or "War and World"). Though it's so frigging long you might not be interested in listening to it, plus to understand what's going on, you have to remember Tolstoy's text really well. :-/

I've reading a lot of books, but I don't know if they are translated to Swedish or English. The one I really liked was A. Ivanov, "The geography teacher had drunk away his globe" ("Географ глобус пропил" in Russian).
