A Bird In Hand...

The day after Thanksgiving turned out beautiful, with blue skies and lots of sunshine!  So off we went in several groups to Beech Forest Park and the Beech Forest Trail. The part of the trail we hike circles the freshwater pond, but the pond is not the reason we all love to hike that trail the day after Thanksgiving!  ;)

The reason is the Black-

That squirrel is so cute. I wish we had them here (aust) we do have possums but since they only come out at night one hardly ever sees them. ps glad you had a lovely thanksgiving day (we don't have that here either)

Thank you! We have one species of possum, and they are nocturnal as well.

I much prefer Fox squirrels as they have less of a habit of dashing in front of your car and giving you a heart attack. Plus they're just so handsome. Unfortunately I've yet to catch one with the camera. Those and turkeys are my two biggest wanna-catches.

We unfortunately don't have fox squirrels around here I don't believe. There are plenty of turkeys, however!
