I was so happy today to learn that there exists a real solar system with at least 5 planets in it! The five planets discovered are all giants, but they are in roughly circular orbits like our own solar system, and giant worlds seem to have smaller worlds "attached" to them, at least the ones we know here in our neighborhood!

Although 41 light years ( Read more... )

"And who knows, some of the as of yet undiscovered smaller worlds and moons may harbor some sort of life, busy about its own business, never dreaming that other creatures far far away are caught up in a dream about them!" :

The very concept of space leaves me dizzy when I think about it too much. I mean it's all just a bit crazy, really. How much there is to see and know and experience.

And so just when you think you've an idea of how big it all is--well then, you may as well take that concept and turn it into the equivalent of a speck of dust, and it's closer to the truth.

Billions upon billions upon billions of infinity, really--and it's all just a speck of dust.

Beyond imagining, really, at least in any real way, but trying to think about it does perhaps put some things in perspective, too! :)
