Gahhhhhhh, I'm SO GLAD YOU LIKE IT! I really enjoyed writing it for you. <333333

It amuses me greatly that the first part of this, which is what gave me my start in writing it, was directly inspired by a piece of art that you haven't finished yet. TIME TRAVELING ART, INSPIRES OTHER FAN WORKS BEFORE IT HAS EVEN BEEN COMPLETED. Now there is a ringing endorsement! *pokes with art stick* Now get crackin' because I want to see the final product!

I tried to put lots of little things in here that I knew you would like; I'm glad you enjoyed the refs. Consider it a thanks for chatting with me and listening to my rambles and generally helping me stay connected with fandom things even while I was running like crazy through the holiday season and keeping the oddest of hours-- I've appreciated it more than I can say. *gives cocoa with extra love marshmallows* :D

omg Rebel. ♥ I love this fic so very much.

Firstly, all the ways Gene struggles with modern technology, it made me both laugh and cringe with sympathy. XD The porn sites hahaaahhhh <3333 Also, one of the D's in DVD standing for "div" - perfect. XDDDD Gene would so wreak havoc on Sam's flat... Speaking of, I loved that you mentioned the thing with Saunders! :'D The fact that Gene is as disturbed by the thought as Sam was when he realised it, that just strikes me as a beautiful parallel you put in. <3333

Then the two of them fighting simply because they're both so FRUSTRATED... fhkjdshfdkaj booyyysssss I just wanted to smack and hug them at the same time. ; v; It's so them, and yet I want to shout at them "JUST WORK TOGETHER YOU IDIOTSSSS RARRRGGHHHH--" But then, the punch-up was necessary, absolutely. <333 And Sam worrying that Gene might disappear any moment because he dies in the tunnel... That just rings so true. HNNNGGGGG.

AND THEN THE TWO OF THEM STEPPING OFF THE EDGE. Together. That is just about the most beautiful moment in ( ... )

I really got inspired by this prompt, and if there's one advantage that came of me not having a lot of time recently it's that I was able to force myself to keep this story moderately short! Seriously, I would have loved for this to be a longer fic-- I had more ideas, ranging from comical to extremely angsty-- but in the end I think it works very well at this length and I'm pretty happy with it. :D

Gene does seem to have a rather disapproving opinion of some types of pornography; he certainly wasn't impressed with the films that the 'Mortons' were making in the finale of series 1, in spite of his jokes about having 'your vicars in a twist.' XD In some ways Gene is just slightly old-fashioned even by 1973 terms, and I think internet pornography would definitely make his eyeballs burn!

They were both frustrated and worried and on edge, and the punch-up is just part of how they communicate-- in some ways here they're using their fists to convey the difficult emotions that they might not be able to put into words. They do alright in ( ... )

The ending to this totally blew me away. I wish this fic were canon, I really do. ♥

Nyawwww, thank you-- that is high praise indeed!

I couldn't help thinking that even if Sam had Gene with him in 2006, he would still feel the guilt and dread concerning the fate of the others. Not to mention, Seeing Gene's distress at trying to adapt to life in the future would be a constant reminder both of Sam's own struggle and everything he came to love about 1973. In short, those aspects coupled with his direct and urgent worry over Gene's fate would make him more consciously aware of his urge to go back.

I'm glad the ending worked for you, I was pretty happy with how this fic turned out! <333333

It wanted to be slash, and you kept a hold of it - WELL DONE! I think it's perfect as it is, and I definitely think Sam would still want to get back to the others, even if Gene were with him. And that they'd end up fighting in Sam's flat, if only so that Gene could have SOMETHING familiar in it.

The end - wow, that is intense, beautifully judged and written. Not easy! Well done again x

In some ways I feel like having Gene there would make Sam feel even more of an immediate need to get back to everybody-- his presence there would obviously make everything seem more 'real,' and there's no way Sam's analytical mind wouldn't relate Gene's temporal displacement to his own experience and assume the other man was in distress. In other respects I assume he would reach the same conclusions he did in the canon of the series, although with Gene around perhaps those sentiments would appear along a slightly different path ( ... )

*randomly finds a thing to read and review*

Gahhhhhh ah wow, that was so incredible. I mean. The feels, so many feels. My heart hurts but it's the good sort of hurt. Anyhow I love how Gene struggles with 'modern' day technology (that poor plant!) and also that necessary punch up and and andddd oh my god the end and them stepping off together, that gutted me but it was so RIGHT. And it really doesn't feel too angsty at all. Like, whatever angst is there just seems like the right amount. And I know I already wibbled because of the ending, but that would be the best canon ending ever, really.

DCI Tyler in this twisted new reality, lord save us <--- also that line is great

Hehe! Feel free to randomly wander thru any of my fics and review them! ;)

I'm so glad you liked this! I was very pleased with how it turned out, and with how it fit within the framework of the original prompt. I gained some inspiration from a piece of art that Aima has been working on but hasn't finished/published yet, so I need to poke her with the art stick some more! XDDD

If this had been a longer fic, there would have been ENDLESS comedy moments of Gene struggling with modern technology and other developments... can you imagine how he would flip out when he discovers that it's no longer permitted to smoke inside the pubs??? Probably best for the general public that Gene returns to 1973 as soon as possible. LOL!

Thanks so much for dropping in to comment! <3
