Sick fics are just too much fun-- they tend to bring out strengths and vulnerabilities in the sick person and the caregiver, but not always in the way we would expect! Annie seems able to put up with Sam's fretting simply because it's so transparent that he's only doing it because he cares, and obviously she would do the same for him... unless we look to 1x1 as our marker and she decides to punch him instead! <33333

I also loved how Gene managed to be a character in this fic just by being a bit shouty over the phone! I'm sure Sam is inclined to jump to Annie's defense whenever Gene makes a comment about her putting some lipstick on or not forgetting her handbag, whereas Annie probably senses that it's sort of Gene's way of including her in the team dynamic and doesn't mind at all. LOL!

The ending to this is so adorable, too! Makes me want to go build a blanket nest, although if I were Annie I would make sure Sam was offering something a bit better than just some 'extra tasty cake' for later! XDDDD
