"Well," she pointed out, a little cheekily, "a lot of things in the universe aren't human. In fact, probably most things aren't, though it probably depends on which time period you're talking about." After all, humans had survived to the very end of the universe - and beyond. They were survivors - but they were a bit like cockroaches, too. And, like cockroaches, they didn't half tend to breed and take over.

He came around behind Martha, tapping the hand resting on what Martha guessed was the handbrake. "Lift that up, would you?" He'd had every intention of making a play for a kiss, but the TARDIS had other ideas, and she spun wildly.
"Hold on!" he cried, throwing himself back into action as he scrambled to restabilize her. "We're going in a bit hard, so - " the rest was broken off as the sound of a loud crash filled the room. As soon as it was over, silence prevailed and the lights flickered out. The console room was lit by the backup power, and it cast the room in a dim blue glow. "All right, Martha?" he called, applying himself to stopping a small fire off to one side.

"We're having almost as many adventures inside the TARDIS as we are outside," she commented wryly, climbing to her feet and fetching the fire extinguisher tucked away under the jump seat. "And more injuries, I think." Martha pulled the trigger on the fire extinguisher and aimed - and ended up spraying foam all over the Doctor. Well, she hadn't quite meant to do that - but on the bright side, the fire was out.
