Kickstarter seminar + Odd Encounter

Sep 12, 2014 21:50

I went down to the Westside yesterday to attend a Kickstarter seminar with Tracy R.  It was 'interesting.'  My favorite question was someone who asked if it was a good idea to put up some kind of ticker counting down the time until their Kickstarter launched.

(In a remarkable display of self-restraint, instead of saying "WTF kind of dumb idea is ( Read more... )

I too was with headache. I ended up not resisting a brief nap, that felt better. And more water.

It might've also been smoke from the fire. I saw on the news a big fire down in orange County, as we suspected.

That old guy at the pump is like most everyone on Jupiter. Trust me.

My mother never puts gas in the car, she makes my father do it. (or me do it) she'll give you the money, but never learned how to pump her own gas.

So if its old guy who's partner passed away or is in hospital, yeah, he may never have had to handle that end. It usually goes the other way with cars, with the lady being lost with what to do with vehicle, but its not unheard of for one person in the relationship to handle everything about the car, even the tiny stuff like getting gas.

Yea, kinda, almost.
Going to the cashier/attendant/employee ought to be a reasonable action regardless of venue.
His total cluelessness is alarming, particularly if he was driving.
Driving means being alert and adaptable to unforeseen circumstances.
It's no defense to say "but there's NORMALLY no truck there!"

But then again, I'm in NJ, the state of no self-serve-gas allowed.

The closest I've been to that was pulling into a gas station with a rental car
and having to ask for assistance finding the gas cap release lever.
A nearby woman was helpful and found it immediately.
So I'll never doubt a woman knowing her way around a car!

Thanks for helping out the old dude. Most people probably would have ignored him completely. They forget that we're all gonna me old and confused some day.

I personally don't have a problem with frequent updates on Kickstarter - I've pledged to projects where creators have done 30-40 updates for a single project, and if I really don't want to read them, I just delete the e-mail. I ended up doing 20 updates on my own project, though most of those were post-funding. I think updates can be a powerful tool, as long as you don't abuse it and do a million a day.
