As it may seem a job for the Culture-Vulture, I was wondering if any of you might have nifty suggestions… For my Uncle Doolittle who listens to nothing but cds from the 80’s. For long trips, Rick Astley and Spandau Ballet is what keeps him alive. (During a trip to Baguio, I packed up Sarah McLachlan, Delirium and Sting, which is such a good ( Read more... )

For upbeat 80s songs, siyempre winner ang Romy and Michelle's High School Runion OST.

If you want upbeat Harry Connick, get the When Harry Met Sally OST. Whatever you do, DO NOT get Red Light, Blue Light. It's a good album but it's definitely not upbeat.

If you want 80s Sting, get the The Police - Greatest Hits

Baka magustuhan niya rin ang Two Rooms: Celebrating the Songs of Elton John & Bernie Taupin. I know my brother-in-law (who's a child of the 70s/80s) kept borrowing my tape.

And, we were cheated by American Music Awards, last night! No Incubus in the flesh! Crap them.

Nga pala, my suggestions are only valid if you want to keep him wallowing in the 80s. If you want to drag him into the later decades, I'd recommend a different set of songs altogether.

Barenaked Ladies. I suggest earlier stuff from the album Gordon (which truly does have something for everyone) and Maybe You Should Drive (more mellow stuff, as they got kd lang's producer to work with them).

For more thematic stuff, might i suggest the soundtracks to Flirting with Disaster, Zoolander and Rent? And for the holidays, the Very Special Christmas series is one of my favorites. La lang.

And in reference to the Very Special Christmas series... amyslayer November 16 2004, 10:24:44 UTC
It also benefits the Special Olympics. And has Natalie Merchant's version of Children Go Where I Send Thee that is worth the price of the disc.

I looked for earlier Barenaked Ladies cd...Odyssey doesn't have 'em and if there were in Tower Records, I think I might've missed it... Will check other branch.
