I’ve been working my way through the alphabet of prompts Dawn gave us on the first day. D is for discovery, and in particular Smeagol’s discovery of the ring. Just how would that day by the river change things for him and those he was closest to?

Wow, this is a powerful 'what if' moment. I really liked this idea of Smeagol's fall from his love's POV. Very original and well done. It makes me want a follow up--the legend of Smeagol passed on through her family (maybe she whispered something about her first love to her daughter at some point in her old age) and a long future ancestress who knew the legend finding out what had been Smeagol's fate while listening to Frodo (or Sam) talk about their adventures.
