Veronica and Piper's Apartment - VERY early Thursday morning

Veronica was still sleeping off the after effects of the previous day. She was vaguely aware of Piper checking on her throughout the night and talking to her, but she really wasn't capable of replying. Rest and time would make things better.

Too bad Piper had left Veronica's cell phone right next to Veronica's bed.

Cameron had tried to be patient, really he had. He hadn't gotten a whole lot of sleep as he was willing his telephone to ring and give him some good news. Not long after sunset, he'd gone for a very long run (taking his cell with him).

It was annoying how slow time could move on right now and Cameron tried to busy himself with checking the last minutes flights vigourously and using telepathy to will his telephone to ring. Somehow he managed to make it until 9:00 before he finally caved and called Veronica.

It took two rings for the phone to penetrate the haze of sleep and another two for her to actually grab the phone. She flipped it open just before it would have rolled to voicemail.

"'lo," she mumbled.

In the rush of relief that washed over him as he heard her voice, Cameron managed to miss that she still sounded tired and half asleep. "Hey, baby."

"Hey," she repeated, her voice raspy. She reached for the bottle of water next to her bed and took a drink.
