The Hyperion - Kitchen - Friday Evening

Dec 29, 2006 19:10

Veronica had discovered the kitchen and was more than happy to take advantage of its wonderful facilities to bake trays and trays of Christmas cookies.

Sure it was after Christmas, but that didn't matter, right? Cookies are cookies, after all. And Veronica liked to bake. So she was baking.

It was the first time Veronica had seen Bel during the trip and she gave him a small smile, not sure how he was going to act around her.

"Hey," she replied. "Cookie?"

"Thanks," he said, taking a cookie and nibbling on it as he leaned against the counter. "How're your holidays so far?"

"No complaints," Veronica said. "I'm spending them with friends and family. You?"

"Okay, I guess," he said. "I survived meeting Phoebe's grandmother. We didn't mention the whole ex-demon thing, though."

Having met Penny Halliwell, Veronica nodded. "That's probably a really good idea."

"Yeah, figured it wouldn't go over too well," Bel said. He idly wondered if Veronica knew about Logan and Angel yet. And how she would react to the news. But he didn't say anything, not yet. "She made me sleep in the basement, though," he went on. "And I think the stairs were boobytrapped in case I tried to go up to Phoebe's room."

Veronica smirked. "That doesn't surprise me. Sounds like something my dad would try. That's why Cam and I met here."

"Phoebe insisted on the whole meet Grams thing," Bel sighed. "But at least it was only a day. Then we headed down here, and, well, Logan's a jackass, Callisto is completely crazy, and Angel's being weird, so everything's normal."

"Cameron and I had lunch with Angela and Marty the other day," Veronica said. "But I haven't really talked to many other people. Been a little anti-social."

"Phoebe's been coming down with a cold, so she's pretty much stayed up in our room," Bel said. "I've talked to a few people. You seen Callisto at all? Somebody whacked her over the head or put a whammy on her or something. She's lost it."

Veronica shook her head. "No, we're on her floor, but haven't run into her yet. What's wrong with her?"

"She's lost her memory," Bel said. "Doesn't know who she is. Who anybody is." He shook his head and chuckled a little. "I imagine Angel and Logan appreciate it, though."

"Well, yeah, I'm sure they do," Veronica agreed. "It means less chance of a homicidal occurrence over the holidays. But it's kind of odd. Has she been to a doctor or anything?"

"No idea," Bel said. "She was hiding under her bed last night. I figure somebody hit her over the head, put a spell on her, or she saw something that horrified her so much she had to forget it to preserve what was left of her sanity. Around here, probably option three."

Veronica gave him a weird look. "I think Callisto is probably more than capable of holding her own against demons."

Bel snickered. "Oh, you don't know the half of the horror going on around here," he said.
