After Bel and Angel left, Logan turned to Phoebe and Veronica. "Well, ladies, I'm all yours. What's your pleasure?"

Phoebe grinned and dropped down into a comfortable looking sofa.

"Well, drinking and cards are two great ways to pass the time."

Veronica claimed a chair, kicking her legs up over the arm.

"I could handle drinking," she agreed.

Logan grinned. "Tequila all right with you?" he asked. "We can do mixed or straight."

Phoebe nodded. "Either is fine with me. If you guys prefer straight, that works."

"What the hell," Veronica said. "Let's live dangerously. I know you guys won't let anything bad happen to me. And after the week I had, getting drunk sounds fabulous."

"All right, then," Logan said. He disappeared behind the desk. A moment later, several limes flew out at Phoebe and Veronica. Salt and shotglasses were set on the desk, followed by a bottle of Tequila and a deck of cards. Logan stood up. "Poker good?"

"Excellent," Phoebe said quite happily. She set up the limes that had been thrown at them and put shotglasses in a row.

"Tequila and poker, just what the doctor ordered."

Well, if their doctor was Christian Troy.

"I'll drink to that," Veronica said. "Get your ass over here with the bottle," she said to Logan. "And do you have a knife we can cut the limes with?"

Logan glanced at the weapons cabinet, then went into the office and found a pocket knife that would work.

He brought it out with the tequila and salt. "What shall we start with?" he asked. He picked up the deck of cards and shuffled them effortlessly.

Phoebe decided it was probably a good idea she hadn't whipped hout her knife to cut the limes with as a pocket knife worked better.

She poured them each a shot and looked from Logan to Veronica. "Five card?"

"Works for me," Veronica said, picking up the knife and slicing the limes.

Logan downed his shot and dealt the cards. "So what's new with you guys?"

Phoebe also downed her shot. "Jell-o dragons. That was definitely new."

Veronica did her shot as well. "Did you get my email about going to Hearst?" she asked Logan.

"I did," Logan said, pouring himself another shot. "Congratulations."

"So how are you liking the detective business, Logan?" Phoebe asked as she poured another drink.

"Need any pointers?" Veronica asked lightly, shoving her glass over in front of Phoebe for a refill.

"We're doing fine, thanks," Logan said. "This dimension's just *infested* with vampires. They're like cockroaches, I swear."

"I'm glad you guys are doing well," Phoebe said sincerely as she poured another round for them. She pushed Veronica's glass back to her. "Are cockroaches easier to deal with?"

"Too bad you can't set up those roach motels to kill them," Veronica said, downing the shot and giving Logan a thoughtful look.

"I heard what happened when Angela and Marty were here," she said. "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine," Logan said with a wave of his hand. "Wasn't all that big of a deal to start with." He downed his shot.

"What happened?"

"Angela staked a vampire that was threatening Logan," Veronica explained, pushing her empty shot glass at whoever had the bottle.

"He caught me by surprise," Logan said defensively.

Phoebe nodded and tossed back her shot. "They can be sneaky, those vampires." She smiled. "I'm glad you're okay.

"Me too," Veronica said, realizing no one had poured her another shot and grabbing the bottle to pour one for herself.

"Me three," Logan agreed. "I'm a big fan of me not getting killed." He poured himself another shot once Veronica was done with the bottle.

Phoebe also poured a shot. "Yes. I'm a big fan of people I like or care about not getting killed." After drinking hers, she poured another round for the three of them.

Another round was an excellent idea in Veronica's opinion. She did the shot and realized that her head was already slightly fuzzy.

"I lost enough people I care about this week. Don't wanna lose anymore," she said.

Logan frowned. "What happened this week?"

Phoebe stared into her glass. "Nadia left and.." She looked at Veronica. "The rest is for V to tell if she wants to."

"So did Archie," she filled in. "They both went back home."

She left the implications of what Archie going home meant unspoken, assuming that Phoebe and Logan were smart enough to figure that out.

"I'm sorry," Logan said, without much sympathy.

Phoebe wisely refrained from making a comment to that and instead took a drink. This was not something to get inbetween them on.

Veronica forced a smile. "So, another shot?" she said, holding her empty glass out.

Logan lifted up the bottle, then hesitated. "I think you might have had enough," he said.

Phoebe looked down in her glass and then sat it on the table. "He may be right, V."

"Fine, then let's play," Veronica said, gesturing to the cards which had gone largely ignored while they'd been drinking.

A few hours later, Bel and Angel returned from their night out. While Angel was parking the car, Bel walked into the lobby and found Veronica and Phoebe passed out on one of the couches. Logan was nestled between the girls, their heads on his shoulders and his arms around them.

Bel blinked.

And blinked again.

"What the hell?" he growled, stalking forward and pulling Phoebe away from Logan's side. She moaned sleepily in protest.

Logan peeled open his eyes. "Oh, hey," he said. "Did you kids have fun?"

Supporting Phoebe with one arm, Bel clenched the fist of his free hand, twitching to summon fire. But Angel might not appreciate it if he immolated the houseboy. And Veronica was too close. "What the hell is going on here?" he snapped instead.

"We were just having a little fun," Logan grinned.

Veronica attempted to lift her head. "Too loud," she moaned. "What's all the yelling about?"

Phoebe agreed that the voices were too loud. "Stop yelling," she said, wincing. Her eyes opened for a moment and she saw Cole holding her. "Hi, sweetheart. You're back."

"A little fun?" Bel said, not lowering his voice at either girl's request. "Keep your hands off my girlfriend, Echolls, or you're going to be snuggling with one of my fireballs next."

Logan lifted his hands defensively. "I haven't touched Angel."

Veronica blinked and wondered if she'd accidentally told Logan about Bel's crush. Then she wondered if sitting next to Logan was a good idea right now and tried to get up. Sadly, her body wasn't cooperating.

Phoebe giggled a little bit.

"Logan's just being silly, Cole," Phoebe said. "We had a lot to drink so his names are mixed up."

Bel looked from Logan to Veronica in horror as he felt his face turn red. Drinking must have loosened her tongue and she told Logan about how he felt about Angel. "She's drunk," he said hastily. "Don't believe anything she said." He looked down at Phoebe, wondering if Veronica had told her, too.

Logan cocked his head. "Anything in particular I should disregard?"

"Anything she said about me and Angel," Bel said.

Unfortunately for him, with the amount of alcohol he'd had while out with Angel, he wasn't thinking too clearly about things, either.

Logan glanced over at Veronica. "Oh? Sounded pretty plausible to me."

Veronica stared at Logan in horror. "I didn't tell you anything!"

She looked over at Bel. "I didn't tell him anything!"

Logan patted Veronica on her leg. "Don't worry. We're all friends here." He flashed a grin at Bel.

Phoebe had passed out again, so Bel had to keep her supported against him. He glared at Veronica. "How could you tell him?" he said, not believing her protests. "Is this your way of finally getting back at me?"

"I didn't tell him!" Veronica repeated. "At least, I'm pretty sure I didn't. I promised I wouldn't! And I certainly wouldn't have said it in front of Phoebe."

"I trusted you," Bel said to Veronica, still not believing her. "You've been setting me up all along, haven't you? Trying to get my secrets so you could use them against me at the perfect opportunity? Congratulations, you've done about the worst thing to me you could. Telling Logan is bad enough, but Phoebe, too?"

"Hey, back off!" Logan said. "I'd pretty much guessed already. She just confirmed it."

The fighting on top of all the alcohol she'd consumed on top of everything that had happened back in Fandom was finally too much for Veronica and she burst into tears.

Bel tried to figure out if there was a way he could kill Logan quickly and rationalize it to Angel. He was possessed and about to kill Veronica -- see, that's why she was crying. It wasn't really Logan, it's been a shapeshifter all along. Logan? Logan who?

Instead he kept a tenuous hold on his temper, scooping up Phoebe into his arms. The damage was already done and there was nothing he could do now but live with it. But he didn't want to stick around and watch Logan gleefully tell Angel about it. So with a parting glare to Logan, he shimmered out of the lobby with Phoebe, heading for their room.

"He's gone," Logan looked over at Veronica. "How come Angel didn't tell me?" he asked.

"Tell you what?" Veronica demanded, wiping her eyes. "I know I didn't tell you anything."

Logan shrugged, a touch guiltily. "Well, Bel already thinks you did, so you might as well share."

Veronica glared at him. "No! And you better tell Bel that I didn't tell you anything. We're finally friends."

"Sure," Logan said. "If he asks."

Veronica rolled her eyes and clumsily got to her feet. "I'm goin' to bed," she said, wavering a little, but determined to make it upstairs.
