[The PCD is in the priestess' lap, showing a curtain of hair and pursed lips. The senshi is staring intently in the distance and allows the PCD to slip from her fingers to show precisely what she is looking at -- the walls of the Inner City are in the distance -- before it lands on the ground. A rustle of clothing and the PCD is picked up and held

Thanks for the ride.

But. Yeah. OH HEY HERE THEY ARE.]
Uh... yeah. Anytime.
[Awkward wave through the doorway, into the kitchen. Doesn't look like anybody's in there but the puppies, Taro and Den, but he'll go make tea, why not.]
So... have you heard anything about the Scientists?
Reply
Uh -- not much, no. Toushirou has told me some things about them and how they live in the Inner City... but not really much about what they do or who they are.

Mmmh... well, he'd remember.
The Scientists are why we're here in the first place. They attempted to control time and space, and... broke it somehow, creating this place. They're the ones who created the PCD's, that's why I didn't want to say this over them.
They say they're working to correct the problem, and they've even claimed credit for sending a few people home and phasing in a few buildings and supplies, but they don't seem to have much control over things.
They've been helpful, in some cases... and in other cases, they're really not. They hardly ever update us with what's going on.

But it's the spirits who are in control of this place.
[It's said with conviction; she knows this, without a shadow of a doubt.]
So they're either delusional or they know something that we don't.

The reason I was afraid of you being so close to the walls is because they have guns, snipers, and other, worse things, inside the walls. And their soldiers are vicious.
Everyone in the inner city with a couple of exceptions doesn't trust anyone outside the walls. We're viewed as savages, without laws or morals or reason, which is what happens when you have a lot of very powerful individuals in one place, with no common goal.
The other reason... is because we attacked them.

Toushirou told me what happened. It didn't exactly go over very well. There were a lot of defenses and the Animus -- or, well, whatever is inside the wall -- attacked back as a consequence... but that's not why I was by the wall.
[She sips at her tea for a moment, contemplating the idea. She glances at Al before settling back in her chair, crossing her arms, determined.]
I can feel the spirits here.

[Which isn't quite true, but... it's true in her case. It would be nothing Rei would find useful.]
A lot of people were hurt, I remember there was at least one person killed. Both Sasuke and I barely made it out of there. [He rubs a finger over the scar, absently.]
...
Could you feel them in there?

[She huffs, looking frustrated with herself.]
The entire place reeks of darkness. Evil. I feel them all around me whenever I'm here, but it felt stronger when I got near that place. The problem is that the spirits here mess with what I can do, so I can't be sure... but it definitely felt stronger when I was near that wall.
Mostly it just feels like someone is watching me all the time.

The Shinigami, like Ms. Unohana and Hitsugaya, they don't have physical bodies in the 'normal' world. They are spirits. But here, they have physical bodies just like you and I do.
The Animus are the only beings that don't have physical bodies... so the Animus would have to be the only spirits you're feeling.
Though there's a definite amount of "evil" forces around here.

That's what I figured. I've been trying to figure out more about them by sensing out when they're strongest and when they're weakest. So far, the only thing I've got is that they're a lot more coherent recently and they feel stronger right before an event... and when they're talking over the network. It's like they're manifesting themselves.
[She pauses for a moment.]
Don't tell anyone what I can do, okay? The only person I've told like this is Toushirou. Nobody else really knows... outside of my friends.

[Al holds a hand up, as if to salute, but inwardly, he wonders why he is ALWAYS the one to get these secrets. Seriously. At least this one seems harmless.]
I've always had the theory that they have a finite amount of power, and they have to recharge. I could be wrong, though.

I'm thinking that they have to come into our world to communicate over the network. That's why I feel them so strongly. I never sleep every other Sunday. They always wake me up.
