Essentially, he's just another caretaker of the afterlife from another world. What he is is no where near as important as what he's capable of and what he is actually like compared or contrasted to stories people from other worlds have heard.

Mm. It depends on who you ask. The Devil isn't present in my religion, but he's well known in a lot of others.

He rules the part of the Afterlife where the sinners go. The bad people, I guess.
