Not that I needed an ego-boost recently, but I decided to update my ancient Elfwood page and looking at all my old stuff made it obvious to me I'd gotten better, even if it doesn't feel like it sometimes. I love your current sketches, especially the little dragon, and I really enjoyed looking at your art on the Elfwood page, too--I liked the one with the angelic figures with the light shining through their wings ("End of Time," you'd titled it).

I feel happy when artists and writers reach a point where they can look back at their past work and like it, even if it's not up to their current standards or doesn't reflect the person they've become--I feel that way because back when they produced it, the art or writing gave pleasure to people, and when people put down their old stuff or make fun of it (you're not doing this, but some people do), it feels bad for the people who liked it.

I may have put down my old art in the past, I'm not sure, but I always always remember the people who liked it, so perhaps never too harshly in public. In fact, what I feel now, looking at my old sketches and paintings is the very strong urge to do them over, not so much in the spirit of "look what I can do now" but to do the ideas justice, especially where I can see the symbols resonating so strongly (like in "Grow Wings") even now. Oh boy, I see another journal entry and project coming up...
