There are plenty of things I miss about Singapore, but that's not one of them. In NYC, I have no compunctions abut just blocking that sort of person by just physically preventing them from getting in front of me. Also, I elbow people who block my way getting on and off the train. It's empowering.
Huh. This never happens to me, at least not in queues (though it's commonplace at lift doors, bus stops, on the MRT, etc.). Maybe I'm too big and scary and foreign-looking?
I've cleared my throat, but that's as far as I'll go, because of the aforementioned Chinese seniors thing. It also gets the magical invisible treatment.
