Fantasy book covers are the topic of this post. Before I begin, I feel I should make a couple of things clear: Taste/art is subjective, and this is just one gal's opinion. I just wanted to say I agree with everything you wrote, and that you have excellent taste. I do, however, own the "bad cover" version of Tigana, because I know the author's work and it was very cheap second hand!

I get the cheap secondhand thing... sometimes price makes me buy an ugly book anyway. After I'm done reading, I sell/give it away as soon as I'm able. No room on my shelves for that one! (I'm such a meanie.)

Bwahaha! No contest. Your cover is very classy. I don't consider its title too much of a novelty font, though. The one on Berseker Lord, though, is (though not the most offensive one I've seen). You're right on about the cliche art, lol. Even the one on the Charles Stross comes kinda close. I forgot about the ol' mushroom cloud/explosion...
