No. Yours has the latest WP (which is supposed to be "safe", which means "that the hackers haven't cracked yet"), but I won't be using it anyway.

would rolling back to an earlier version -- say one of the 2.5.X ones -- work in getting rid of the shell thing?

They are pretty un-secure.
