(raises hand sheepishly)

I hadn't really thought about it to tell you the truth. I just knew to be careful with them.

I'm kinda peeved with carbon-reduction education and advocacy right now to tell you the truth. The people who advocate CFLs rarely ever mention the mercury content. But online most articles about compact florescents thankfully mention mercury... except for the feel-good websites for newcomers to eco issues. NPR was actually another culprit until people contacted them about it.

Sigh.

Yeah, I mean it's just so obvious--the twisty shape, the white color, not to mention you can smell that stuff a mile away. It practically screams "I contain mercury!" Stupid people.

Because they aren't forced to learn it.

i think the problem is that there is no real way to save the environment unless we change our lifestyle completely. no more office blocks open until all hours, no more car rides to a store 2 blocks down the road (or even 5 to 9 for that matter!), no more overconsumption. we have abused this planet and we need to rember the REAL golden rule:

"We did not inherit the Earth from our fathers, we are borrowing it from our children."

It sickens me so much and I really don't think there is any hope for industrial civilization anymore. Oil is running out and the only way the first world can continue living is to totally turn the 3rd world into sugar alcohol colonies, leaving no room for food for those poor people.

move into the wilderness now my friend. D:
