Regarding books. When you read something really good or powerful, does it find its way into the music you compose?

Oh yes, very much so. I am constantly looking for "source material". Less books, but more any type of media at all. My favorites list is full of things that I was reading, most likely kept in a browser tab for a week before deciding that I really wanted to keep it. Even beyond that, I can't pass a used book store without going in and seeing if they have good books of poetry or other good books.

There is also a more philosophical way that what I read makes it into my music. I have studied a wide variety of courses, but they all sort of centered around a theme of analysis. Linguistics, Literature aesthetic, astronomy, phonetics in various languages, etc. They have crept into my music, I think, in much more subtle ways than I can even really describe, other than to say that it changed at least the way that I think about my music, and how it sounds.

Hey! Where have we gone, I haven't heard from you in forever! ;-)

It has just been a crazy couple of months since my grad work started, Shan. Not a lot of time on the blog front, but there will be some stuff coming in shortly. Miss you wicked, how are things?

Things are good. We just got back from a week in the mountains. 6th year of being married and all that. lol

I've missed you both terribly. Lots of love coming to you all today. Especially Holden. Give that kid a squeeze for me.
