inquiring minds want to know-vampire novels over or not?

I am ridiculously in love with vampire novels and I have this idea, but I don't know... what do YOU think? Are vampire novels over or not? I'm already working on something else, but THIS idea keeps calling to me. That's typical though.

I just checked in a huge stack of new vampire/paranormal romance-ish books for the teens and most had holds, so it's definitely still a popular trend. I'm getting a LOT of younger girls - upper elementary or middle school - who want to read Twilight or "a book about vampires that's like Twilight". If you're thinking of writing something with vampires for middle grade, I amm all over it!

I hope they're not over for good. I ♥ vampires. I think I always will. With that said, I DO think any vampire premise has to be very unique! And if it's an idea that you can't get out of your head, you should write it anyway. :)
