Some Modest Proposals...

Some modest ideas to address the current kerfuffle on FurAffinity:

1) Any art over one month old is grandfathered.   Any art newer than one month may be flagged by any user (this can be used to combat sudden spam/porn flood).

2) In order to register a complaint about, say, some ten year old art, you need to be a Verified User™ (© Elon Musk).    ( Read more... )

Logical, perfectly logical. I am accountable for my actions and I expect that of others. Of course, this is not happening thus your "modest proposal", but it opens the can-of-worms of privacy. It's my right to not like everything, so I don't have to look at it. But preventing others from seeing art or reading books is NOT my "right" or privilege.

Precisely. And because it's "logical, perfectly logical", this policy will never see the light of day on FA barring a significant change in ownership. :)

They'd never go for it. After all, this is the same FA admin that said they would Instantly and permanently ban anyone who said anything but the official party line about January 6th.

This rule change is only because they are owned now by a bigger company that has an ass to cover. And because some furries are still bent and think eroticizing Pokemon is a way to get around previous bans on "Cub Art".

1) Why the hell do you think I posted it here and not on FA? ;D

2) If you mean IMVU, 'Neer bought FA back a couple of years back. :D

So, basically, if I see some art I think is legitimately objectionable, I have to totally dox myself to the communist affiliated nut jobs who run FA, who can totally be trusted to never use my info for anything like a swat or other type of attack. Not that it's likely they don't have all my info already.

I left FA a long time ago, along with pretty much the whole of what passes for The Furry Community. It's not been a safe place to be creative for a number of years now. And it certainly isn't a place where you can reason with those who hold power. They do not acknowledge any need for logic or consistency. Indeed, the only reason they might actually like your proposal is because giving your home address to such dangerous people defies all logic.

Yeah, this proposal would only work if I hit the Powerball, bought FA, ousted the mods and brought in trustworthy people to make the decisions.

Still, a bloke can dream, can't he? :D

I would be the last to discourage dreams. As I have commented recently, I believe we are at a turning point in history. If by chance you should hit the Powerball, or just run into a bunch of friends interested in investing, this might be just the time to create a new site to compete with FA; a site with a constitution that forbids the irrational behavior that ruined FA and divided the fandom against itself. I believe you might find surprising success with a site that had all the advantages of FA to creators, minus the political oppression.
