The lack of rain is seriously hurting the plant life this year. :( I'm happy to hear about the blackberries though. I stole away to the field beside my grandpa's and picked two quarts of them. We'll have to look at recipes together. My grandpa said blackberry dumplings are the best thing ever.

The blackberries are wonderful, but unfortunately, the birds think so, too. They stole the first four that ripened. I was planning to pick them after weeding, but when I came back, all four were gone. All I found was a trace bit of blackberry juice on the rocks. :shakes fist at sparrows: Now I check them all the time. We need to buy some netting, clearly.
