So some of you may be familiar with the Star Trek 'Ship Wars' fic challenge. I propose a similar challenge for the Demon's Lexicon trilogy, in honour of the launch of Demon's Covenant. At this stage, we're just trying to get an expression of interest - assuming we get positive results, sign ups will probably open in a couple of weeks and run for ( Read more... )

I'll most likely take part if it in not in May *being difficult*

My exams finish at the end of the month, at which point I can read Covenant and decide who I ship based on that :)

That's ok, I am most likely to take part if it is not in May. Even when sign-ups go live (which won't immediately), they'll be open for quite a while. We want to give people a decent chance to get through Covenant. :) We want as many people as possible to participate, so we'll definitely try to accomodate people's timing requests, but as this challenge is likely to run for a number of months, people can be more or less active in different rounds depending on their time constraints.

So long as it's happening in June or later (by which time exams are over and book will have been read!) and there is enough time for me to be involved, absolutely! :D It sounds awesome! :D

:D I am glad to hear it. Yeah, will definitely not be happening until June at the earliest, but if we can get word out early and generate enthusiasm, hopefully we can get more people participating. :D

*raises hand* Maybe want to wait until people have read Demon's Covenant before making ships? Without being spoilery, I'll just say that there are new ones...

Seconded! Though I am assuming these ships are not firm.

Yeah, ships are very much not decided yet, I was just trying to get a basic idea of where interest lay. In any case, the finalised teams will be based on which ones get people signing up for them; I won't have any actual control over that (I am totally rooting for Nick/Jamie! an unbiased and removed adjudicator! *cough*) But thanks for the heads up - it's good to get an idea of how the next books going to impact on it. At this stage, it's looking like the challenge won't go live until late June at the very earliest, so that should leave plenty of time to generate support for new ships. :)

Indecisive Judy is indecisive about which team to be in, but I totally support this idea and will totally participate! (Even if I'm not much of a writer.) Ah, the crack is so appealing, but I'm more of an audience kind of gal when it comes to this stuff...

Any ideas for the name of team "tribble"? Team (Goblin) Market? Team Civilian? Team (House of) Mezentius? Team Dancers? Team Circle? Team Raven (being as they're in the background of like every cover)? Would that team have a captain, not being a contributing team?

Also, maybe we should ask sarahtales to mention it on her LJ for if there's anyone who might want to participate but isn't a member of/doesn't watch this comm?

Heh, when I signed up for the ST ship wars, I actually had to make tables of pros and cons for my ships before I could pick one, that is how indecisive I am! Probably it is better for me to just run the challenge, and enjoy AAAALL the amazing ships in these books. I am not actually sure what would consitute a crack ship in this fandom, but I couldn't NOT INCLUDE IT! (Maybe Nick/Knives? Mae/Sarcasm?) Also, I had considered including a 'team rarepair' if anyone wanted to do that, although exactly which ships would fit into that category is a bit ambiguous at this stage (especially without having read Covenant).

I had actually been thinking about the name for team 'tribble', but I hadn't come up with anything yet. Thanks for the suggestions, something Goblin Market-themed does sound like it would be good (but on the other hand, you are right about the Ravens too). Maybe "Team Fever Fruit" would be appropriate? XD

I hadn't even thought about asking sarahtales to mention it, do you think she would? Because it did occur to me that there are ( ... )

Nick/Knives OTP. Or Nick/Mrs. Crawford, from that last cookie. Or Alan/Sumerian Tablets, or Mae/Sassy T-shirts, or Jamie/Dumbledore Zombie (their love is so undead!). Sarcasm could be shipped with everyone, I believe... For SRS!shipping, I don't really have any strong feelings one way or another--Alan and Mae are geekily sweet together, Sin and Mae are lovely ladies, the first Covenantcookie we got makes it easy to pair Jamie with Gerald and/or Seb, Nick and Jamie could be interesting, Nick and Alan are platonic OTP anyway...I'd probably give up and start going on about massive teenage demon orgies, like I do with D.Gray-man. (I have an OT4 in that fandom which expands easily to an OT7, with spin-offs and everything...) And then there's the back-in-the-day Daniel/Olivia/Marie OT3! Oy. I'll stick to being a cheerleader and crackshipper.

She might, you never know until you ask.

Team Fever Fruit! I love it. (And yeah, it wouldn't make much sense for the audience!team to have a captain, I was just curious.)

Lol, I know what you mean about the epic multishipping. Basically the whole reason this came about was because vociferocity and I were completely failing at having ship wars because while I totally love Jamie/Nick and she totally loves Jamie/Gerald, we were both like "BUT THERE ARE SO MANY OTHER AWESOME PAIRINGS, AAAAH!" and we decided to settle the matter with a battle to the DEATH celebrate all the awesome ships in TDL with this challenge!

Oh, and just so you know, if you really cannot choose, you can join up to two ships so long as you are able to complete at least one submission for each team (although we encourage people to pick just one). See other comments on this post for more details :)

:D Awesome! I am excited that there's already so much interest for it. (Yay, Nick/Jamie! Although omg, Nick/Sin is awesome too! <3!)
