We do have male fishies, yes?

Some of the usual chat-fish remarked the other day that we knew there had to be boys and men in this fandom, but we were finding it difficult to think of specific individuals ( Read more... )

Well, Sarah did mention how a boy enjoyed her book and his friends admired the sword cover, but he was concerned about sharing the title with them because of the hot fellow on the proper cover. So there is a fan!

I checked Other because although I am female, I no longer have any reproductive organs to secrete the hormones that would make me read "Twilight" and think Snape is a misunderstood hero because he's portrayed by Alan Rickman; even if I did have the organs, they'd no longer be functioning anyway because I am OLD. Older than a boat, as the poetess said, and there can be no folly in owning it.

And yeah, the US dust cover made me slightly queasy.

I thought he looked a bit like Tom Welling. Which then gave me flashbacks to Smallville, so I don't generally pay any attention to that cover and just use the secret one instead.

I COMPLETELY AGREE WITH THIS.

I mean, it's not like I didn't enjoy Smallville (well, the first 2 seasons, anyway; then it went downhill very fast), but...I do not want to picture Clark when I'm reading a scene about Nick, y'know?

And the secret cover makes me go :D inside. And out!

Well I'm female, but I had to let you know that my 10 year-old son enjoyed the story via an audiobook. He doesn't read very well, but he has a great imagination, and he's very sensitive to other's feelings.

He very much liked Nick and understood how even though Nick wasn't suppose to have feelings, in reality, Nick did.

So I suppose even if my son isn't a part of the comm, he certainly is a fan.

Every fic-oriented fandom in which I've ever been involved for the past 20 years has skewed female. The only "fandoms" that didn't were D&D and its ancillaries (and even Dragonlance skewed female when you looked at fic).

Boys just don't seem to write (or read) fanfic very much. I'm usually the only one around. (And, for the record, I know exactly ONE heterosexual male active in ANY fandom I currently follow. Y'all probably know him, too, since he's a) on LiveJournal b) well known in the HP fandom for several major novel-length fics and c) also starting to produce original fic.)

Sam is SOOPERawesome. I'm thrilled that he thinks of me as a friend, not just one of the Café masses. :)

*slaps hand down* Too much stupid, mean teenage boys in my classes! I prefer pretending they don't exist!

Boys of the age that are in your classes are generally poopyheads.

They do get more civilized as they get older.
