Oh, dude, I grew up with that shit. Like the original Metroid? When they came out with it for the newer console, I could NOT play it because it was too fucking 3D. That and I hate those controllers.

The sequel is worth looking into.
Going to the store near Fraser and Broadway tomorrow.
My experience was that the place was a total rip-off, at least for PlayStation games.
SNES games I was intrigued by included The Twisted Tales of Spike McFang, the FireMen and SOS (those last two by Human Entertainment). Where carts are concerned, you may save bother by trying before you buy via emulation.

I heard they have a good selection of SNES games.
All the games we have right now either came with the system or we borrowed them. I've been watching game reviews and game play on youtube. Trying out with an emulator is a good idea too.

If I had one site to recommend investigating, it'd be MobyGames, and not just because I'm a chronic contributor. Select SNES in the Game Browser, select RPGs, boom!
Speaking of shitty games that there are far better versions of . . . I picked up this Mario Cart Rip-off Crash Bandicoot game (the version for Game Cube) and the game play is sooo bad. At least I only paid $5 for it.

Haha. Never had an SNES, sadly, but I do have fond memories of playing various Mario and Zelda games at other people's houses.
