Adam and I re-watched Akira last night. Still amazing, perfect animation, awesome, etc. With something that incredible it seems that in trade there must be something sinister behind it. I don't understand why Akira is in the Krazy! exhibit. Based on the introduction text, the anime and manga selections were supposedly supposed to introduce "lesser known" work ... I can see that happening with a lot of the choices, but ... Akira? Akira has to be one of the most popular anime titles in North America! It's famous even among people who want nothing to do with anime otherwise!

Actually, bringing this issue up here is probably entirely nonsensical, seeing how the VAG curator is currently teaching a course on this very exhibit, which I am even attending, and in which I have already asked him the above question ( His answer: He pushed the curators for that section to include Akira. )
. . . I suppose I simply can't help but bring this up whenever I now hear somebody mention either the exhibit (which you have in the past) , and/or, as you now have, mention Akira.
