Did some more Discorder editing this morning at work. This afternoon I've been reading old Language Log posts.

Weird, I did not hear da-da at all. I heard ga-ga when I was looking at his mouth and ba-ba when I had my eyes closed.

I hear ga-ga when I look at his mouth, too, I think. Not da. But it's a weird mutated-sounding ga.

where do you hear "it's not rocket surgery"? i think i've only hear one other person besides myself say it.

Hadn't seen the McGurk effect before, but that's just odd. Unfortunately, despite some Googling and Wikipedia reading, I'm still not getting the linguistics joke, but that's probably because there's too much blood in my coffee system right now...

Hey, that sounds cool. You should email Dave, the editor, at discordered at the gmail domain. Dave likes ideas. :) Just tell him what you told me, and if he's interested, he'll try to find someone to write it.
