Bright kid alert...

Oh dear. JJ's new favorite video is Eyewitness Jungle, in which the narrator uses the following words in the first minute:

"biodiversity"

"multilayered habitat"

That sort of thing doesn't scare me. I suppose it should, but it doesn't - I love to hear little kids use big words, especially when they demonstrate an understanding of their meaning.

That said, every kid has their "thing" - JJ's is clearly animals; Ethan's is earth science. Ainsley's pretty doggoned obsessed with outer space - she came home yesterday with a drawing of the solar system, or at least four planets thereof (which she named for us) and three rocket ships, blasting off to the planets. Of course, she thinks people go to Mars the same way they go to the grocery store. ;)

Alex and Ryan are into dinosaurs... and space. Their new thing is watching animal shows. They're currently obsessed with alligators and pirhanas. They were watching one show the other day and the alligator was still in the water. Alex said "when will he open those jaws", then he snapped up some animal and both of them yelled "COOL!" :-)
