That's not firebending. You're using flame throwers.

And you're from the Water Tribe Sokka. Even if you could bend it would be water, not FIRE.

Oh Zuko. You just don't get it, do you? Is it because I can bend fire without dancing or meeting dragons or being ticked off at everyone? I don't know, but the point is, I'm doing firebending my way and I happen to be very good at it.

Besides, maybe I don't want to be from the Water Tribe. No one there can bend fire.

Of course it's safe. Fire Bender 1 and Fire Bender A are both a great improvement over the model you saw. See, check this out.
