Sokka the 55th - [Action/Voice]

Jan 13, 2011 23:01

[This Lucetian has been returned from the Malnosso, after not too long a stay with them. He's kind of bruised up and is leaning on his left leg a bit much. But you'd never notice it from that kick in his step. With a big grin on his face, he's walking from the north end of the plaza on his way home, looking all around him at all the snow the recent ( Read more... )

[Sometime before Sokka's doing his best social butterfly impression, if he does eventually make it back to House 56, he's in luck - Katara hasn't been home often but due to the Laws of Coincidence, at the moment, she is.

Making tea. Imagine that.]

Well, no one has ever stopped their own kidnapping. So I brought it on myself for resisting. But hey, live and learn, am I right?

[He rolls up one of his sleeves and points to a cut on his shoulder.]

Here too.

[That's right, man. Piss off the woman manipulating the chi in your body.]

So, because no one's ever won, there's no point in fighting when they take you away against your will in order to mess with your head. You know what? Stop talking. Just - stop.

[She's glad to see you and all, but 'you' aren't 'you' again. Her hands tremble a little with anger as she tends to the newly revealed gash. Why do they think it's funny to take her brother away from her and give him back as someone who isn't himself? She hates them for this.]

Okay, sure. No talking.

[He'll just hang out, get healed, be oblivious to her boiling over her rage. He's just waiting for when she's good with him talking again, because he knows how important it is for her to be able to concentrate on her healing.]

[Fortunately, healing gives her something to occupy her mind. By the time she's done with fixing him up, she's gone from a boil to a low simmer.

It's not his fault. She still just can't... ugh.]

There. You're done.

Great! Good job, Katara. You've really got this down now.

[He immediately stands up, looking none the worse for wear.]Are you hungry? I'm pretty hungry. I should make us something to eat.

[Are you kidding her? She hoists herself up to the chair he just vacated and rests her elbows on her knees.]

No. I think I just lost my appetite.

Really? [There's a pause where one might think he might ask her if she's okay. But...]

Okay. Maybe I should make some sandwiches for Winry and Edward while I'm at it.

[Ugh. She's starting to feel a little dizzy on top of it.]

That's very considerate of you.

[He abruptly turns around.]

But not as considerate as you for making dinner all the time. [He's looming over you, Katara. Can you guess why?]

[No, no she doesn't. But she does glance up because, seriously, what the heck are you doing?]

[SUDDENLY HUG.]

Thanks for being the best little sister ever!

[You know, if this was remotely real, Katara would be more than happy to accept the hug - and even the praise. But the two of them have never really had to say anything like this, except in moments where it really mattered.

This - this isn't her brother. This appreciation for just filling in, doing her job - this isn't Sokka - so she endures the hug for a moment and then shoves him off.]

Are you done? You're acting like you're out of your mind.

[Well, when he gets pushed off, it doesn't bother him. He just shrugs and goes back to what he was doing.]

Are you sure? I don't feel different.

[She really, really wants to be able to do something about this. But she can't. And that just really, really--]

I'm sure. But that doesn't worry you at all, does it.

I don't see what's to worry about. Even if they did mess with my head, I'm sure it will all work out at the end. And why not? Being happy is good.
