Given that their start points, Sokka's house and the barracks, and their end points, the smithy and the grocery store, are both pretty much right next to each other, it's probably inevitable that they'll encounter each other on the way.
It'll probably take a while for her to recognize Sokka when she sees him, but if he doesn't say anything she'll probably eventually recognize him via the clothes and hair--especially if she's behind him on the road.]
