[...sometime this morning, Katara wakes up slowly, prodded too it by the pain in her back and the nagging sensation that something is different. The air isn't salty. She's not cold. The ship isn't moving

[Well, here, you can at least have someone wearing blue. She sees you in the shadows there, child, but she came into this forest to get out of the village and practice. ...And practice she will, this time specifically with water artes.]
[And once again the wibble face, because she knows it could be dangerous but she doesn't see that she had any other choice. At the question, Katara shakes her head.]
[Katara hesitates. She is thirsty. But taking that canteen means that she'll come close enough to be grabbed. She somehow doesn't think this lady will throw it at her... and even if she did, Katara's not sure she could catch it with her burned hands.
...she is really thirsty. And... this lady doesn't look like she's going to hurt her...
...
...
Katara takes a few more hesitant steps closer, stopping at whatever maximum distance she can reach out to take the canteen from, and slowly does so.]
[Nephry just smiles, making sure the girl has a good grip on the canteen before she let's go. Then she sits back, making it as clear as possible through body language that no grabbing ever crossed her mind.]
Drink as much as you need. ...May I ask you something else?
[Katara takes one step back anyway, but puts the canteen up to her lips and takes a deep drink anyway. She knows she should drink slowly, but she's just so thirsty, and who knows if it will be taken right back again? It's worth the stomach ache to have water. When no one snatches it away, Katara lowers the canteen to say a quiet:] Thank you.
[She takes another drought of water from the canteen, and then nods at Nephry's question.]
[Katara hesitates. Nephry's been really, really nice. The nicest anyone has been to Katara in what seems like a really long time.
But she really, really doesn't want to go back. And if they've been looking for her, they have her name. She doesn't want to get Nephry in trouble if they're looking for her and find out that Nephry hadn't given her to them.
...but she's never seen anyone with Nephry's hair and eye color before, and her gaze keeps drifting to the woman's ponytail and wings and maybe...]
Well, I'm afraid I don't have any food with me. And all I can offer you is my word that you can trust me. I understand if that isn't enough for you right now. If you're willing to come with me, though, there is a lot of food in my house. It's set a lot farther into the forest than most others, and we could take care of those burns there too. You'd feel better.
[and she holds out a hand again. That's more than she's said at once in a long time, but it was all sincere.]

[She frowns slightly again, hmmming a little at the state of those hands]
I suppose I do have another question. I don't want to scare you, and you are free to refuse. May I see your hands?
[Without leaning forward, she holds out a hand for Katare, palm up] I promise not to hurt you, if you agree.

...I'm originally from near the North Pole. It's very warm here in comparison, isn't it?

[Not that she's... you know, been there, but she's heard the sailors complain about it enough.]
