When it comes to writing - actually translating a story from brain to virtual paper - networking is a heinous time sink, devised by Satan to prevent his representative on Earth (whether that is Dan Browne or JK Rowling is open to debate) being subject to any serious competition. If you can't turn it off (my trembling fingered option) or be in another room then its just a question of turning the guitars way up loud so everything else is driven from your brain, just rock'n'roll and story. In the end the story will get out, leaving just the rock'n'roll.

If you still require displacement activity, there is always solitaire.
